STYLE GURU BIO: Catherine Brackett

Hello fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Catherine Brackett, and I’m a freshman Journalism major with a double minor in Textiles and Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I’m a newbie at CollegeFashionista, and I couldn’t be more enthralled to be interning with them!

Fashion has been a significant part of my life ever since I can remember. As a child, I would model for my mother as she took Polaroids for keepsakes. In elementary school my favorite teacher would call me her little “fashion diva.” As I grew older, my taste grew more sophisticated and I experimented more and more.

This past year, I have found a fondness for photography. I look to Richard Avedon for most inspiration and aspire to carry the elegance he once carried in his photography.

My style has grown and changed with my age and interests throughout high school and now college. I don’t possess a specific flair because I enjoy experimentation and I look to role models of mine for inspiration and new ideas. My closet is very diverse, which I adore because I can suit myself for whatever mood I’m feeling on a certain day.

However, I keep simplicity a top priority while picking outfits and value how something so little can make the biggest impact like an interesting ear piercing or a unique watch.

College is an indescribable experience so far, and it makes me breathless just to imagine what I’ll be doing with my life in the next few, short years. This internship is going to challenge me, and I look forward to where it will take me and what I’ll learn from the experience. Check back every Wednesday with me and check out my Wanelo to get your inspiration fix!
