STYLE GURU BIO: Cate Baskin

Hey Fashionstas and Fashionistos! My name is Cate Baskin and I’m currently a sophomore at DePaul University in Chicago. I’m majoring in Psychology because I’m fascinated with how the human mind works and why people do the things they do. My ultimate goal is to eventually work in merchandising for a fashion label or to start my own. I cannot wait to start working with the CollegeFashionista team as I love learning about fashion and spreading that knowledge to as many people as possible!

I currently work as a stylist at the UK-based clothing store AllSaints and I also intern as a personal stylist at the non-profit Bridge to Success. At Bridge to Success, I work with low-income, at-risk clients who are searching for new jobs and need business appropriate clothing for interviews. It’s super rewarding to be able to work one on one with clients and I love every single second that I’m able to share with them because I’m able to make a difference in their lives. With my job at AllSaints and my internship, I’m exposed to a lot of different styles and fashion trends daily. I would say my style corresponds very closely with the image that AllSaints represents. I would describe my personal style as minimalistic, monochromatic and edgy. Anything that is the color black or made of leather, I’m guaranteed to love! I love simple pieces that have a special element to them, like a zipper in a unique place or an unexpected fabric.

Some of my favorite pieces include these black jeans and this sweater from AllSaints, and my Michael Kors leather jacket, featured above.

Definitely make sure to check back with me every Monday and see what I’m loving each week! I cannot wait to share what I find.
