STYLE GURU BIO: Cassie Sterwald

My name is Cassie Sterwald and I am a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This is my third semester as a Style Guru and I’m excited to continue searching for Fashionistas/os all over campus. I can’t wait to see how everyone manages to dress stylishly in the colder months, and I’m even more excited to see spring fashion later on this semester.

The worst part of winter is dressing for it. Some days, it is just too cold to dress nicely and feel stylish. Of course, I love oversized sweaters and cardigans, but so does everybody else and sometimes I like to stand out. I love adding fun tights under skirts to make them more practical. Sweater tights are one of my current obsessions. If it isn’t freezing out, I’ll wear a longer skirt. My gray tulle skirt is one of my favorite pieces. During the winter months, I almost exclusively wear darker colors like gray, black, navy and maroon. Another fashion trend I’m really into this season is high-waisted anything. I can wear all of the crop tops I bought during the summer again with a nice warm cardigan. While these are some of my favorites, I always enjoy seeing how other people around campus show their style.

About halfway through this semester, the weather will start getting warmer and full of more sunshine. I can’t wait to see some of the biggest trends of spring. I don’t know what the season will hold yet, but I know it will be full of color. I live for the day that my feet can finally be free again in a pair of brightly colored sandals. It’ll be fabulous to start seeing Fashionistas getting ready for spring.

Throughout these next few months, I’m curious to find fashionable people dressed for winter. My state often has the coldest months in January and February. As the season changes in March or April, I will love seeing how everyone incorporates more colors and prints into their wardrobe. Spring is one of my favorite times of year and I can’t wait for it to get here. In the meantime, I will make sure to stay fashionable and hunt for others out there on UW-Madison’s campus.
