Hi, Fashionistas/os! My name is Cassidy Hutton, and I am Style Guru intern for the spring 2016 semester. I am a senior at Lake Forest College, which is located 30 miles north of Chicago, and I am studying communications. Upon gradation this May, I would like to have a career in fashion buying or public relations. Besides shopping, my favorite hobbies include reading, traveling the globe and creating my dream closet on Pinterest during my free time.
I like to think that I have always had a keen eye for fashion and knowing what styles have paralleled my taste the closest. To keep up to date with the latest trends, I receive monthly subscriptions to magazines like Allure and Glamour in the mail, frequent designer websites and online shops. I look to trendsetters like Olivia Palermo, Emma Watson and Blake Lively for inspiration, as I consider myself to be more of a modern prepster.
The look that I chose is more sophisticated than an outfit that I would wear on a typical day. However, I think it says a lot about my sense of style. A good portion of my closet is made up of clothes and jewelry from J.Crew, and the pieces I have pulled together for my ensemble mirror this fact quite well. I have worn this outfit for several job interviews, as the red color of the dress shows confidence to potential employers. It also stands out amongst the majority of people who wear darker colors like black for such occasions.
Underneath the dress, I wore a classic blue and white pinstripe button-down, as such a blouse is a wardrobe piece that should be a staple in everyone’s closet. I paired it with a gold statement necklace and black boots from Tory Burch, as their classic look pairs effortlessly with many other skirts, pants and dresses from my wardrobe. The red coat featured is also J.Crew and is one of my favorite winter wardrobe pieces, as it provides warmth without losing its traditionally elegant look.
My glasses are the last feature in this look, though they certainly are not the least when it comes to the main components of my ensemble. Glasses are the accessory of the season, though mine work well for me year-round. When I am looking for a more trendy vibe for the day, I will put on my glasses to finish off the look. Overall, this look speaks to my love of anything preppy. Red will forever be in style, as will the boots and blouse that I have chosen. I hope you enjoyed my bio.
