STYLE GURU BIO: Cassidy Crawford

August 30th, 2016 at 2:00am

Hey Fashionistas/os! As you can tell from my profile, I’m Cassidy, but most people just call me Cass. I’m a sophomore fashion merchandising major at the University of Delaware, and I’m also thinking of adding either an English or business minor to my degree. I love to sing, write, create and style, and while I haven’t quite determined which direction I want my career to go, I think owning my own boutique would be my ideal dream job. This is my first semester working with CollegeFashionista, but I can already tell it’s going to be super exciting and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to be a Style Guru!

I grew up smack in the middle of an older and a younger sister, with a mother who I consider to be my best friend. Although my passion is the strongest—hence my choice in major—the four of us all share a love of fashion. Having four women in the house is never easy for my dad, especially when we’re all in the process of getting ready. Mine and my older sister’s wardrobes are filled with mostly girly and trendy pieces, while my younger sister has the best basics and sporty options. What I love about fashion is being able to mix and match so many different pieces and ultimately create one final put-together look, and I love having three different closets to pull pieces from. Though it’s a blessing to live with two extra closets, it’s also a curse to my indecisiveness because I have almost too many options (seriously, my sisters and I, mostly I, love to shop), but I think it’s from there that I get my ever-changing style.

My style is all over the place, but mostly remains chic, girly and classic on a daily basis. My go-to look when I’m running late—which is more often than I’d like to admit—is something that’s easy, comfortable and I know works well together. I love layering and accessorizing, so my day-to-day look for walking around campus consists of jeans, usually ripped and a basic top. In the fall, I’ll keep a cute sweater shrugged over my shoulders and tie on a pair of sandals. Once it starts getting colder, I’ll swap my cardigan for my leather jacket and slip on a pair of booties. I also love carrying a cute, classic tote bag so I can easily toss all of my belongings into it.

In my opinion, fashion is the truest and most fun form of self-expression. You don’t have to be an expert to know what you love or what looks best on you; you just know, because it’s your style, your look and it’s something that nobody can take away from you. Fashion is truly art, and I’m so excited to share my love of fashion with you this semester by filling you in on the hottest trends and inspiring you to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to your style.
