STYLE GURU BIO: Cassandra Flinter

Hey Fashionista/os! My name is Cassandra and I’m a senior studying business management with a specialization in marketing at Stony Brook University. Growing up on Long Island has definitely shaped my diverse style; I am influenced by everything from New York City’s edgy streetwear to the laid-back, beachy styles seen on the East End. Working retail in the fashion-forward town of Southampton also keeps me on my toes and encourages me to try out the newest, emerging trends.

If there were one article of clothing that I could never let go of, it would have to be a pair of ripped jeans. They’re just one of those things that can be worn in any color, any fit, during any season, and to almost any occasion. They can be dressed up with a pair of heels for a night out, or dressed down for an effortlessly cool day-look. In this outfit I chose a pair of black ripped jeans, which by the way, is the main color of my outfit almost every single day. I rocked one of my favorite new trends, the fishnets-under-jeans trend, to add a little extra detail to this (could’ve been simple) outfit.

On the top, I layered a vintage hooded flannel over a low cut T-shirt with a lacey bralette to add a bit of femininity. I’m a huge advocate for layering, as you can even see with my accessories. I paired a super basic choker necklace—always a choker necklace—with a multi-purpose bandana folded up to act as a second choker.

This outfit was all about displaying my usual balance between grungy and girly. Of course, like everybody else, my mood of the day definitely impacts my outfits choices—but for me it can be something as simple as the shoes I throw on my feet. Today, I was obviously feeling more casual and opted for my worn-in pair of Report sneakers. Tomorrow…who knows!
