STYLE GURU BIO: Caroline Verdic

Hi Fashionistas! My name is Caroline Verdic, I am from New Jersey, and I have a passion for fashion.  I am currently a student at Marist College studying business marketing and fashion merchandising.  I’ve grown up with fashion. My mother worked in the industry for many years which spurred my interest at a young age.  She would come home from work with so many new shirts, pants, and shoes that I wish I could wear so I would walk around in her high heels, wearing all her jewelry at once while applying lipstick all over my face. She knew that I would explore the fashion world from this young age.

I grew up very close to the city which allowed me to familiarize the exotic fashion culture. That is where I get some inspiration for my looks. My inspiration also comes from magazines, social media, and even people walking around every day. I think it is amazing that so many people have their own unique style that fit their personality. I love this quote by Rachel Zoe, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” I would say my sense of style is trendy; I love to follow the trends and add a little spin to it. Trends are always changing which allows me to wear Sperry boat shoes one day and ripped jeans with a choker the next. My main style at school is casual so I will always go for an athleisure style. I love to experiment and mix and match trends to make my own personal style.

Currently, I am obsessed with accessories. I love a big hoop earring or chunky necklace. I even like a bold lip color that matches a bag to spice up the outfit and make me stand out. I also love a great accent piece that ties the outfit together. I have recently become obsessed with sneakers; I feel as though I need every pair I see. I love to run but now that the newest trend is wearing sneakers with dresses, skirts, shorts and pants I find myself wanting more! I am definitely taking advantage and buying more athletic and casual sneakers, although my bank account doesn’t like that very much!

Today’s outfit was inspired by NYC-chic. I was looking for a casual look that I can wear day and night without having to change a lot of pieces. I went with a white blazer that I absolutely love. I wear it all the time, season to season; it is very versatile! I also went with casual high-waisted blue jeans. Neutral colors are super in right now, but I love a pop of color. This is why I went with a bright pink lip and pink bag. Lastly, accessories. Accessories enhance your outfit without putting much effort into it. I strongly believe a great watch and earring combo that make every outfit complete.

I am so extremely happy and excited to join the CollegeFashionista Style Guru family and I can’t wait to share my articles with you!
