STYLE GURU BIO: Caroline Thompson

With the new year just beginning, it’s hard not to look back on the past year and see all that I’ve experienced and accomplished. It certainly has been a whirlwind. From interning in New York this past summer, to traveling all over Europe this past semester, I’ve changed and grown. Not only me personally, but my sense of style as well.

For the fall semester I lived in Florence, Italy and I certainly lived like the Italians do except I may have interspersed their lifestyle with the American way as well. I indulged in tons of pizza, pasta, gelato and of course great European style. I love their effortless chicness. From the way they hold themselves to their looks, it’s a unique attitude and style rolled into one. Now that I’m familiar with the lifestyle of those across the pond, I hope to continue to infuse this attitude into my current style.

As nice as it was to witness and observe European style, it’s always a challenge to bring this mindset back stateside. My main concern today is surviving the lovely winter tundra of the East Coast, which certainly makes quite the style dilemma. However challenges are how your style evolves and I embrace each and every pickle I encounter. For the cold weather, I head straight for my edgy black wool coat. It’s super warm, but also has a personality that is similar to my current style. I continue to carry out the gray and black tones to my mittens and my leather booties. It’s hard to be fashionable and warm, but it can be done!

Personal style is always evolving and is also a fun and exciting adventure. I’m constantly inspired by people on the streets and try to impart pieces of their wardrobes into my own. This is my current style story and I look forward to meeting more Fashionistas/os this semester to continue to be inspired in different ways. As I continue my journey with CollegeFashionista, I hope I inspire you to challenge yourself personally and stylishly.
