Hello all, I am Caroline! I am so excited to join the CollegeFashionista team this semester! Here’s a little bit about me: I am from Long Island, New York, I am a senior at the University of Rhode Island, and I major in textiles, fashion merchandising and design.
I am a beach addict and spend my summers on the peaceful, remote Fire Island but I am also a lover of the fast paced environment of a big city like Manhattan, where I plan to work and reside post-graduation. Both locations are where I find the most inspiration for my fashion sense. I would consider my style boho-glam. My go-to fashion icons would have to be Rachel Zoe, Gigi Hadid, Kim Kardashian West, Jessie James Decker and the ever flawless Beyoncé; but I wouldn’t stop there. All of the women in my life inspire me each and every day and remain my personal style icons and inspirations. My favorite quote is by the one and only Coco Chanel, “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” I believe that no look is complete without confidence and a smile, real beauty and style comes from within and shines greater than anything. Just a bit of confidence is all you need to top off the perfect outfit.
When it comes to fashion there are no rules or boundaries. Styles that catch my eye are the ones that push the envelope and pop. My obsession these days is with the statement jacket. I think a simple outfit topped with a funky jacket is a chic and easy look. In this look I am wearing just that! This ultra cool ruched crushed velvet bomber is my favorite thing in my closet right now. I love how comfortable it is, yet it is the perfect statement piece. Underneath are a simple pair of skinny high-waisted jeans, and a cozy black knitted tank that I knotted to make the top a little edgier. My taupe suede boots from OohlalaBoutiques also make quite a statement. Over-the-knee boots are very popular right now and the lacing detail on the back adds a little sexy touch. I accessorized with a fringe leather bag that is for sure an eye-catching piece as well as dangly rose gold choker, a Michael Kors gold quartz watch, and an oversize pair of Quay shades.
