STYLE GURU BIO: Caroline McKinley

Hello all! My name is Caroline McKinley; I am a proud Tar Heel and rising sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am pursuing a Multimedia major in the school of Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Studio Art.

I have long fostered a love for travel, and spent last summer visiting Durban and Cape Town, South Africa. This summer, however, I am thrilled to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team, and will be reporting from the beautiful North Carolina mountains.

Fashion has always been a pivotal part of my life. For as long as I can remember, pages torn from Vogue, ELLE magazine, and InStyle, have covered my bedroom walls from floor to ceiling. While elite fashion houses have always captivated me, the current phenomenon capturing my attention are street style and the juxtaposition of high and low priced pieces. Thus, I have an admitted fetish for sneakers and find them best suited with short dresses and denim skirts.

My passion for all things with flat soles and laces has resulted in an innate aversion to heels, so I hope that this summer, with the help of my fellow Gurus and Fashionistas/os I can learn to embrace the warm weather wedge. This summer, I aspire to further cultivate my personal style and inspire others to do the same. The season to mix it up is upon us, even if that means simply a bolder nail color. Change is change, and change is welcome.

I know that this summer will bring many opportunities to grow and widen my style horizons, and I am anxious to greet it with open arms (and sneaker-clad toes).
