I am so glad to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team this semester! My name is Caroline Johnpulle and I am a second-year student at McGill University. I am currently majoring in economics and work at a local design studio in the fashion capital of Montreal, Chabanel.
My style is definitely inspired through my city. As a native to Montreal, we are constantly being exposed to the diverse cultures this metropolitan has to offer. From the people, the language and fashion, there is a definite sexiness that we cannot deny.
The downtown core is scattered with great boutiques, thrift stores and fashion-forward students. I love to dress in ways that reflect my personality. Clothing and style can really individualize you from the rest. It can also uplift your mood!
If you know me, you’ll know that I am addicted to my American Apparel Disco Pants. They are a staple investment in any Fashionista’s wardrobe. I also like to mix up pieces from different countries. Fortunately, I had the chance to travel to many parts of Asia with my parents. Each time I brought back traditional garments and fabrics. My favourite prints are my silk Batik skirts from Thailand. The patterns are bold, beautiful and colourful.
On Fridays this semester I will be writing the weekly ACCESSORIES REPORT. I hope to bring great fashion insight and document trends around the University. McGill students can be very book smart but they do not let that get in the way of fashion.
