STYLE GURU BIO: Carly Tice

September 1st, 2015 at 2:10am

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Carly Tice, and I am a senior at Fairleigh Dickinson University. I am a Marketing major and also a member of my University’s Division I Women’s soccer team. Fashion, photography and sports have always been a passion of mine, so naturally I am excited to incorporate all three while being a Style Guru.

Growing up as the daughter of a football coach, I was always moving around the country. As a result, traveling the world has become an outlet to satisfy my need for adventure. But traveling has not suppressed my restlessness. On the contrary, it has made me more curious as it has opened my eyes to emerging trends beyond the already explored territory. I hope that you are as excited as I am to start this stylish journey.

I would describe my style as sporty-chic yet constantly evolving. However, undoubtedly, being an athlete for the entirety of my life has impacted my sense of style. I love the athletic wear trend as appropriate day-to-day attire. I am a huge fan of the adidas collaborations with Stella McCartney and Topshop. I believe comfort and identity are essential; if you aren’t comfortable, physically and personality-wise, in what you are wearing, it is impossible to exude the confidence that makes us irresistible.

My outfit in this article fully captures my style. You can always find me in a pair of ripped boyfriend jeans—this pair I cropped myself. Not only are boyfriend jeans comfortable but they are also versatile. You can wear them with a pair of sneakers, like this adidas throwback endorsed by Stan Smith, or dress them up with a pair of pumps for a night out. My off-the-shoulder top has been my summer go-to move. A naturalist-inspired top is great for hot summer days, and the loose aspect brings a delicate touch of chicness to the look. Recently, I have been swooning over the bandana trend. In this look I decided to tie my black bandana on my purse; this added a personal touch to the clean-cut style of the purse.

In the future, I plan to pursue a graduate degree in Fashion Merchandising, and I am confident that being a Style Guru is a step in the right direction. I would love for you to check out my Instagram account @carly_tice and continue this conversation!
