Hello Fashionistas! My name is Carly Lembo, and I’m a sophomore at the Fashion Institute of Technology studying Fashion Design with a minor in Italian. I’m super excited for the fall semester and my first time as a Style Guru!
Ever since I could remember, fashion has always been a huge part of my life. Little ol’ eight year old me wanted to be a fashion designer even before I could pronounce Yves Saint Laurent. Today, I know for a fact that I made the right choice choosing fashion design as my major and the college I’ve dreamed about since the third grade.
I studied abroad in Florence, Italy when I was a rising senior in high school and not only did I fall in love with Italy (and the boys!) but I fell in love even more with the fashion industry. Learning about the industry abroad and discovering cool trends was fascinating to me, and when I came back to New York a short two weeks later, I felt like I had learned so much about the industry I never knew. My technical skills had changed and drawing became even more of a passion of mine than before.
I never really thought I had a particular style until I came to college and realized that my entire wardrobe was black, gray and blue, so be prepared for most of my posts to include at least one of these colors. I like to consider myself fairly trendy but almost always having a staple piece added to my outfit whether it was a nice watch, blazer or even just a really great pair of jeans. I’ve been wearing heels since the eighth grade and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Being 5’2″ I can use that little boost of height here and there!
As a previous store associate of Forever 21, I stocked up for fall on sweater dresses, boots and fun accessories. This dress was one of my favorite pieces and I absolutely love the olive color. The second these boots came into stock, I snatched up a pair and fell in love with them. I threw on a bunch of rings and a cool watch, and I was ready to go.
