My name is Callan Reilly and I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Kansas majoring in Journalism and minoring in English. I’d love to work in the fashion industry when the time comes – my dream job would hands down have to be a correspondent on E!’s Fashion Police. Talking and fashion are two things I consider myself to excel at.
I’m originally from southern California but growing up, I also lived in Kansas City, Denver, and Phoenix. My desire for a “real” college experience as well as my love for Kansas brought me to KU. I wanted to return somewhere I was familiar with, and I also fell in love with the college town of Lawrence. I’m a yoga fanatic and I also write for my school newspaper, The University Daily Kansan, where I have a weekly fashion column.
My interest for fashion derives from my intense desire to stand out, as well as my passion for creativity. Nothing is more impressive to me than the works of my favorite designers, such as Alexander McQueen, Balmain, and Victoria Beckham. Writing is another creative outlet that I enjoy, so CollegeFashionista is a project that I’m very excited to be apart of.
This summer I will be going abroad to London in a fashion journalism intern program, and I could not be more excited. I can’t wait to visit Europe for the first time and be living in one of the fashion capitals of the world.
As seen here, I’m wearing one of my staple outfits. Denim on denim is a look that I cannot deny. My high waisted wide leg jeans Levi’s from Urban Outfitters were originally $100, but I purchased for $5. If that’s not CollegeFashionista material, then I don’t know what is. My denim button up is from a Lawrence boutique, and my white snakeskin pumps are Dolce Vita. I love the new trend of winter whites and I’m all for breaking rules. Finally, my purse is a navy Mark Cross leather bag, perfect for red and blue filled KU game days.
I hope to prove through my posts that fashion does very well exist on college campuses, even in places such as Kansas.
