STYLE GURU BIO: Caitlyn Kenny

Hey Fashionista/os!

I’m Caitlyn Kenny, a sophomore at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. majoring in Sociology and minoring in Government. This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I am so excited for the road ahead.

I am the second oldest of five kids, four being girls. To say the least, it’s been amazing growing up in a house full of differing personalities and independent styles from one another, which I credit my love for the expressiveness and variety of fashion to.

Over the years, each of us have developed the ability to highlight our different styles while drawing from the same closets full of clothes: something that has shaped my outlook on fashion and furthered my love for it. I like to think of this dynamic as being apart of the Spice Girls; me being Baby Spice, of course!

Not a day goes by where we aren’t discussing the latest trend, our favorite style influencers, or a recently seen look we loved.

I have been fascinated with fashion for as long as I can remember. However, for a while I was just a spectator and admirer of this industry; always searching for new bloggers to obsess over, following all of my favorite brands on social media, and looking for ways to up my style. It wasn’t until I started my own jewelry business, that I was able to fully immerse myself in the fashion world. With that, and now belonging to this amazing community of Fashionsta/os, I am even more involved and engaged in a very hands on way.

I would use the words feminine, unique, and fun when defining my style. My personal style definitely depicts my day to day moods, which is why it wouldn’t fall under one concrete category. Head to toe neutrals or a colorful patterns are equally exciting in my book.

A huge part of my style involves athletic wear. Whether I’m taking a Soul Cycle or Barre class nearby, or going on a run, I like to still emphasize my inner Fashionista! With that being said, workout leggingsbright colored sneakers, and a Lululemon tank are something you can find me in at some point each day.

On the way to class in the winter, I value highlighting my individual style while making sure I am warm. Blue jeans, a simple sweater, and a warm faux fur lined parka are awesome for this, and dressing on the fly in the mornings. Not to mention, they leave room plenty of room to get creative! I chose velvet camo sneakers and a chic tassel necklace to do the trick here. However, the options are endless.

From experience, I can attest to the fact that the monuments aren’t the only monumental aspects of D.C., which is why I’m thrilled to share the diverse and fabulous styles I encounter on campus each day, with the CollegeFashionista community. Be sure to check back on the first of each month to see the incredible looks I’ve ran into!
