STYLE GURU BIO: Caitlin Reddington

Hello, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Caitlin, and I am thrilled to be back for my second semester as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista! I’m in the midst of my junior year at Mercyhurst University. I’m studying Fashion Merchandising, and I honestly couldn’t imagine doing anything else. One of my favorite things about the Fashion Merchandising program at Mercyhurst is the opportunity I have to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology my senior year of college.

I started developing an interest in fashion when I was in 5th grade. I had an account on the website Stardoll; I absolutely loved putting outfits together on the site. Looking back at this time, I actually wasn’t very fashionable at all! I went through that awkward phase everyone blocks from their mind. I wore way too many graphic T’s from Abercrombie & Fitch and Aeropostale. I wore UGGs with practically every outfit, and I thought wearing matching sweat suits was a good idea.

I began finding my own style in high school. I would describe my style as romantic. I’m usually found wearing pastel colors or floral print. I love dressing up! I would much rather wear a dress or skirt, instead of jeans or shorts. However, I do love wearing leggings and my cozy sweaters too! Some of my favorite accessories are scarves and headbands. I love scarves so much because they can instantly pull any outfit together. I get a lot of my fashion inspiration from celebrities and decades. Some celebrities I look up to for style inspiration include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Audrey Hepburn. My favorite decades are the 1940s and 1950s.

Over the past couple of years, I recently discovered the world of blogging. I created my own fashion blog about two years ago. Since then, I have fallen in love with blogging and writing. I look forward to you reading my articles each month, and I can’t wait for another RAD semester!
