STYLE GURU BIO: Caitlin Madden

Hi there! My name is Caitlin Madden and I’m a student at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I just transferred here for my junior year in the fall. I’m studying Advertising and Marketing Communications in hopes of becoming a Fashion Journalist or Social Media Coordinator.

I’ve been loving the city so far, especially because of all the amazing shops and street style inspirations. New York definitely understands my love for an all black ensemble. Personally, my style varies a lot from day to day because I love keeping up with the latest trends. I’m currently obsessing over turtlenecks, chunky booties and long, layered necklaces. I’m a petite girl at 5’2” so I spend a lot of time looking for the perfect pieces that don’t overwhelm my frame but are still stylish.

I have loved fashion my entire life, and I’ve wanted to work in the fashion industry. I’ve always loved shopping and putting outfits together. My sister often employs me as her own personal stylist; because I love helping other people create their own look. (Sometimes I even catch myself picking out outfits for my boyfriend). Ever since I was little, clothes have been my favorite way to express myself. I love every aspect of fashion, be it watching runway shows, reading Vogue or studying my fashion based courses at school.

I’m excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista because it combines three of my favorite things: fashion, writing, and social media. Writing about fashion feels very organic to me, as it allows me to express my views on one of my favorite subjects.

Outside of school, you can often find me exploring the city, online shopping, experimenting with my makeup, or traveling home to New Jersey.

I’m excited to begin my first semester as a Style Guru, and I cannot wait to share all of the unique styles of the students of FIT!
