I’m Caitlin and I am a junior at Indiana University studying Apparel Merchandising. I am from Cleveland, Ohio and I spent the past summer in New York City interning in the fashion industry. This spring I will be studying abroad in Florence, Italy at Lorenzo de’ Medici. While abroad, I will be writing for the FASHION FROM ABROAD column and I could not be more excited about it! I know Florence has several huge study abroad programs within the city and I cannot wait to see how students’ style from the states will evolve and change while living there. Although my parents are convinced I am just going to Florence for the pasta and pizza, I know Florence will bring me tons of new style inspiration—something I am always looking for. I cannot wait to report back to you on trends (whether you choose to wear or defy them!) and styles Europeans are wearing and how you can incorporate them into your own style!
My personal style is a mix of classic pieces with a twist. My friends joke that they are going to write a book about me called, “The Beige Closet” as I love to wear anything beige, whimsical or pastel inspired, and my closet would hold true to that statement! I may be a self-proclaimed shopaholic, yet D.I.Y. items are my newest endeavor! I got my knack for creating jewelry from my mother, hence why I never leave the house with at least an arm stacked full of bracelets! Not only do I live for layering jewelry, but I also love layering clothing, especially having been brought up in the arctic Cleveland!
As I embark on this new chapter in my life in Florence, Italy, I am so happy to be writing to you about my one true love, fashion.
