Hello! My name is Caitlin Kennedy and I am a junior here at the University of Iowa. I am studying Communications with minors in Spanish, Human Relations and a certificate in Leadership Studies. I am so excited to intern as a Style Guru this fall and I can’t wait to showcase all the different styles in Iowa City. This internship is perfect for me as I hope to one day become a buyer for a major department store. I spend enough time in them to be confused for an employee anyway.
My parents joke that I had an eye for fashion even as a little girl. My mom loves to tell the story of when I was two-years-old and refused to wear a pair of velvet overalls because I deemed them unfashionable. Growing up attending private schools, I was required to wear a uniform so accessories are my favorite fashion item. My friends joke around about my excessive collection of statement necklaces but I love that you can make an outfit stand out by just adding a colored necklace. Needless to say, I live by the “pop of color” rule but with my own Midwest flair.
Summer means sundresses with my cherished denim jacket, which I’ll never get rid of because they are always in style. You can find me in a pair of leggings, boots and an oversized sweater to ring in the fall.
I truly believe that when you are dressed your best, you feel your best. The University of Iowa has an array of unique Fashionistas and Fashionistos who are always dressed well. I love seeing other people’s outfits on campus to figure out how to incorporate different items into my own style. I look forward to spotting fashionable men and women on my favorite Big Ten campus this fall!
