STYLE GURU BIO: Cady Brimacombe

I am beyond excited to start my first semester with CollegeFashionista and begin documenting the fabulous style at the University of Victoria on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Do not be deceived by the photos–it rarely snows in Victoria; these photos were taken in my hometown in the southern interior of British Columbia during the winter break. In future posts, expect a lot of rain.

I am in my third year of my Bachelor of Commerce degree and am considering a career in buying, marketing and social media in the fashion industry. Graduating high school, I had no freaking clue about what I wanted to do. Fashion had always been an interest of mine, but I didn’t start thinking about it seriously until I began reading fashion blogs regularly, which helped me discover my true passion for style. My favourite blogs are Man Repeller, Pandora Sykes and, of course, CollegeFashionista.

As a commerce student, style can be a little boring in a world of neutrals. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good neutral; but, sometimes life needs a little pizzazz. Through my personal style I love to explore my creativity with combinations of pattern, colour and texture.

In this outfit I combine white leopard print booties with black BCBGMAXAZRIA trousers and a Forever 21 basic extra-long side slit T-shirt. The trousers and long T-shirt play on the dress over pants trend. A soft blue fuzzy textured coat (think Serenity from the Pantone spring 2016 collection) helps keep in the warmth while the long clean lines of the coat keep me looking chic. The red, tan and black scarf helps to tie together the colours in the booties and contrasts well with the Serenity blue. Details like the tiger ring and the J.Crew elephant necklace add interest and elevate the outfit. A black Steve Madden carryall lets me be practical; it is the best bag and the perfect size. It fits my laptop, water bottle, notebooks, wallet and lipstick collection while also strengthening my biceps on my 30-minute walk to school.

Follow me here on CollegeFashionista and on your preferred social media platform, all the details are in my sidebar bio. I look forward to a semester of sharing UVic style with you!
