Hi fashion lovers! My name is Brittany Singh. I am currently a sophomore at Fordham University pursing a major in Economics and two minors in Business Administration and, of course, Fashion Studies. I am super excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, as this is my first semester writing. I’m looking forward to sharing my fave fashion looks with you guys!
Fashion is something that my passion has grown for over time. In elementary school, I’ll admit I wore the same sweater all the time, and swore to never wear jeans (I mean who wouldn’t want to be comfy in sweatpants all the time, am I right?). Moving on to middle school, crazy colored sneakers and matching sweaters were my go-to. My wardrobe was fun and crazy and it allowed me to express how I felt that day with the different colors. But as I grew up and entered high school, I realized that fashion played a huge role in making me who I am. I began to take a real interest in the fashion world and spent so much of my time learning not only about brands and styles, but also the designers behind the clothes. Fashion is so much more than just wearing a pretty outfit—it’s a way to express your personality. Finding my passion for fashion gave me the confidence I never had before. As I always say, “When you look good, you feel good!” And this motto is something that I believe in with all my heart, as I do not do this for anyone else but myself. Having confidence is one thing that can truly help you conquer anything and everything.
As for my style, it changes on a daily basis. I could be grungy in all black one day, preppy in pink the next, and boho-chic the next. It really all depends on how I want to express myself that day. My style is comprised of very simple and versatile pieces that I can dress up or dress down with different accessories. Accessories are my main focus because a great bag, an awesome pair of shoes and some rad jewelry can completely transform an outfit, making a very simple piece of clothing different with each wear. Being that I’m a native New Yorker, my fashion sense is heavily influenced by the ever fashion-forward NYC. I could not imagine being anywhere else but here because streets are full of inspiration and totally new and fun ideas. There are no rules here when it comes to style.
