To paraphrase Zac Brown Band, this summer I’ve got my toes in the water, bottom in the sand and not a worry in the world—life is definitely good today. It’s my first full summer living in Southern California and I’m ready to embrace the sun and explore the fashion. Surrounded by gorgeous beaches and fully submerged in the laidback atmosphere, I anticipate the trends my camera and I will discover.
Living in a new environment isn’t foreign to me. I moved all my life and even spent time abroad in Germany my first two years of high school. I developed my personal style over the years by experiencing new cultures, fashions and simply by growing up. As a rising senior, my style is feminine and embodies a casual and comfortable feel. However, my go-to for a more formal occasion is always a LBD with accessories. From accenting with pops of color to rocking a chic pair of stilettos, little black dresses lend themselves to plenty of creativity. In my eyes, the blank canvases for the fashion-forward are the LBD and jeans with a plain white tee. My love for accessories probably plays into that formula—but the way I see it, you can never have too many shoes, scarves, bags or pieces of jewelry.
Fitness attire is also a major component in my closet. With brands such as lululemon and Lorna Jane, working out becomes another outlet to express your style. I also happen to be just as obsessed with fitness as I am fashion, so looking stylish while staying healthy fits my lifestyle.
Before I started writing and editing for CollegeFashionista I never took much notice of street fashion. I became a Style Guru the spring of my freshman year, started editing a year later and now I can’t walk around anywhere without noticing street style. No matter the look, what you wear helps express your personality and mood. This summer I’m searching for those who stand out under the California sun and will uncover a bit of their fashionable personality. Grab the suntan lotion, pour yourself a chilled drink and enjoy a slice of Cali style all summer long.
