I’m Brit and I’m a Film & Television major with a Creative Writing minor at SCAD. I’m so stoked to be writing and taking photos for CollegeFashionista for the next two quarters! Writing, photography and, of course, fashion are my biggest passions besides filmmaking. Here at SCAD, everyone has such a distinct and creative personal sense of style, and I’m really excited to be able to share that. I will be writing every Monday giving you STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK.
As for my personal style, I like to mix uncommon patterns with each other, such as leather and lace. Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely live in dresses! You’ll hardly ever see me wearing pants – no matter how cold it may be! But, lately, I’ve been experimenting with separates, which I have grown to love. The vibe of my outfit changes from day to day. Sometimes, I’ll feel like wearing a leather jacket and combat boots, and on another I’ll wear a vintage ’50s floral print midi dress. My wardrobe really is so random and expansive; it all depends on how I am feeling that day. I also really love finding unique pieces both new and vintage. For example, my favorite pair of earrings, which you can see in my photo. And I’m all about bargains. I don’t believe you have to spend a lot to look your best.
Being that I’m so busy like I’m sure all of you other Fashionistas are, what I wear also has to be somewhat functional and time-savvy. I love having a few statement jewelry pieces that can pretty much go with anything. Statement pieces are a great way to instantly make an outfit look much more put together. If you have a silver or gold ring, bracelet and necklace that are all pretty versatile, you can just throw them on and go. Also, a neutral-colored manicure makes all the difference. The color I’m wearing here is one of my favorites—it’s by Pixi in Mink Grey, which you can buy at Target.
