“The main thing I love about street photography is that you find the answers you don’t see at the fashion shows. You find information for readers so they can visualize themselves.”
My name is Bri Wong and I am very excited to return as a Style Guru and continue writing about the style on my campus for the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column. I am a junior art history major with a double minor in film studies and business. I have a never ending thirst for knowledge and inspiration so I’m always reading books, magazines, blogs and online articles on fashion, music and movies.
The beginning quote, spoken by the famous street style photographer Bill Cunningham, exemplifies my job as a Style Guru― to inspire your own style using fellow college students. My only hope for this semester is to inspire you through my posts and provide helpful tips to upgrade your style. I previously wrote for LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS, so I am ready to write about women’s fashion (the girls on my campus have great style.) Although I want the change of pace, writing solely on men’s fashion was a fun challenge to really seek out great style.
My style is always evolving and is a mix of everything from striped shirts, Free People dresses, pleated skirts, T-shirts, chambray and chiffon blouses (my current investment piece.) While it’s growing and maturing, what remains the same is my love for cute prints and classic pieces. My fashion inspiration is magazines like Teen Vogue and Nylon, bloggers like Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere and Natalie Suarez of Natalie Off Duty and websites like Refinery 29. These are my fashion inspirations and hopefully my posts will inspire you.
I look forward to sharing all the great fashion on my campus this semester.
