STYLE GURU BIO: Bianca Matias

Hello there Fashionistas and Fashionistos!

I’m so excited to join the CollegeFashionista team this semester for the very first time! Here’s a little bit about myself. I’m 19 years old and although I’m from the northern suburbs of Illinois, I was born and raised in the Philippines. I also serve as the publicity chair for my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. At DePaul University, I’m majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Digital Cinema in hopes of becoming a film producer one day! Although I have a passion for the cinematic arts, fashion is something I hold very close to my heart. Ever since I was a little kid, I always cared about my fashion and how I presented myself in my clothes. That’s why my motto in life is to always look your best in whatever you do.

My personal style, as one would describe, would definitely be minimalistic. My closest mostly consists of stripes, black, grey and any other basic colored clothing. Currently, my favorite go-to outfit is a grey V-neck, a plaid shirt, distressed boyfriend jeans and a pair of slip-ons or Converse. Although I’m not much of an accessories person, as I like to keep it simple most of the time, I do like to throw in a watch, some earrings or a hat every now and then. I’m a firm believer that less is more. Do not get me wrong though—as much as I love my minimalistic style, my favorite designer of all time is Elie Saab. I personally find his designs and the details he puts on his dresses absolutely breathtaking.

Finding one’s style is not easy. It takes time and a lot of experimenting with different looks. I certainly took my time and it wasn’t until coming to college that I realized the styles I liked and didn’t like. I hope I get to help all of you find yours with the different kinds of fashion I will showcase in my articles.

Attending DePaul University and being able to live in the city of Chicago, I get to see many of the different styles and fashion people possess and I can’t wait to show all of you! Catch a new article of mine every Wednesday!
