STYLE GURU BIO: Becca Hake

Hello there! My name is Becca, and I am beginning my last semester as an undergrad at Indiana University. Come May, I will receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Science with a focus in apparel merchandising and fashion design. I am stoked to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista during the final stretch of my undergraduate career.

At an early age, art became an important part of my life. I have always had a strong desire to create, and I am never far from my sketchbook. Through the years, my artistic interests began leaning toward fashion. I love how fashion has given me the ability to turn my illustrations into wearable art.

My personal style has been shaped by my experiences traveling. From the high-fashion street style at the Golden Triangle in Paris to the colorful and thought-provoking graffiti in Berlin, inspiration is endless. I embrace my mid-west roots, but have also adopted bits of style from all the places I have been lucky enough to explore. My style includes the bohemian flair from Costa Rica, minimal aesthetic from Paris and a whole lot of grunge from London.

I stick to a neutral color palate with my clothing so I can easily create new outfits with what I already have. Typically, you can find me wearing distressed, black skinny jeans paired with a simple top. My biggest retail obsessions are chunky, statement necklaces and shoes. I definitely depend on my accessories to help me stand out in a crowd. Currently, these exotic, strappy pumps are my favorite—they are surprisingly comfortable and add a bit of texture to an outfit.

I’m excited to share the awesome style there is on my campus this winter. Stay tuned and remember to click RAD on your way out!
