STYLE GURU BIO: Bailey Emanuels

Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Bailey Emanuels and I am a sophomore at University of California, Santa Barbara. I am so excited to be joining CollegeFashionista to work alongside such creative fellow clothes wearers!

When I’m not spending hours in the library (quarter system definitely keeps me on my toes!) or lounging on the beach, I can be found shopping! I have always loved fashion as a method for personal expression. I was voted best dressed in my high school of 600+ students and continue to receive almost daily texts from friends asking me which shoes/shirt/rompers to buy. My personal philosophy with shopping is, “Don’t buy it unless you love it!” Obvious? Well sure, but it’s something I always have to remind myself especially because it’s incredibly easy to accrue an entire closet of unworn clothes.

That being said, I materialize this philosophy with very classic and versatile pieces combined with cool details and trendy pieces. Right now I am loving floral and paisley ’70s prints, bell-bottoms, anything mustard colored, velvet, hoop earrings, studs, leather, embroidered jackets and deep maroon. Unfortunately my eyes are bigger than the size of my wallet…

Luckily, I was able to find affordable trendy pieces such as these velvet bell-bottoms. They’re so comfortable and I got them on sale for only ten dollars at Forever 21! I decided to pair it with a plain black tank top so that the outfit wasn’t too busy and gave it a ’90s flair with a light pink & sparkly choker and a jean jacket.  I suggest pairing velvet pants with an embroidered floral jacket, or plain black leather jacket. Velvet, flares, jean jackets, and chokers—it’s like the ’90s and the ’70s birthed a modern hippie lovechild.
