Winter is here whether we like it or not. The ground breaking low temperatures have frozen over Lake Michigan, caused hundreds of canceled flights through the Midwest and have even made Canada (the motherland of icy tundras) concerned for the USA’s well being.
What’s a Fashionista to do in weather like this?
Catch up on all the fashion trends, of course. And when the temperature rises to bearable levels and the sun finally comes out, a Fashionista can make her grand appearance knowledgeable and flawless. Or at least that is what I will be doing. I’m Ayana, a Chicago native and a student at Carleton College (Northfield, Minnesota). This spring I will be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista.
When it comes to fashion, I tend to go with my gut. I like dressing in mostly natural colors such as brown and black. My brown leather jacket is one of my favorite things that I have ever dug up from the Salvation Army, paired with some warm olive green corduroy pants, the look can be warm and cute.
I am absolutely addicted to heels, especially heeled boots. Something about them just scream “tough” and I absolutely love it. I also enjoy adding an extra five inches to my already 5’10 frame, allowing me to tower over my campus.
I also have an infinite admiration towards lipstick, specifically black lipstick. It makes me feel like I’m sort of like a goddess among men. If I had to sum up my fashion ideals in one word it would be “punk.” Fashion should be bold and different. The best outfits are the ones that make you feel that you can take on the world and start a revolution.
