STYLE GURU BIO: Ava Varasteh

Hello! My name is Ava Varasteh and I’m a rising senior at Boston University majoring in journalism. I was born and raised in Boston and couldn’t bring myself to leave for college. At the risk of sounding cliche, I hope to move to New York after I graduate. I plan to attend grad school as well, most likely to get my MBA.

I’ve always loved fashion, even when my own lazy outfits to class don’t reflect that. My first job was in retail at Anthropologie, and my first internship was at The Fashion Project in South Boston, an organization dedicated to using fashion to help charities throughout the world. Currently I write for Her Campus, both the BU chapter as well as the national website. I am a fashion blogger for Admitopia, and I recently began writing for The Odyssey. I am also on the PR & Events Board for BU’s Fashion & Retail Association and the Head of PR for BU’s lifestyle magazine, The Buzz.

I hope to work for a renowned magazine someday, whether writing, taking photos or working behind the scenes in marketing. The entire process fascinates me and is an incredible dream of mine.

My favorite piece in my closet is my quilted Hobbs London leather jacket. Even just pairing it with sneakers and leggings makes me feel cool.

My style ranges from edgy to boho to homeless. It truly depends on the day and my mood—the flexibility of fashion is an amazing thing.
