My first word was “potato.” My second word was “no.” To be honest, neither of those really mattered until I uttered my first phrase at the ripe old age of two: “I wear this.” Since that day, my mother lost the privilege to pick out my outfits and a love affair for all time began. I have been in a long-term relationship with my closet for about 22-years now and have learned a thing or two about pairing pieces together. I always start from the bottom up. I trust my footwear to make the key decisions then letting everything else fall into place. Experimenting massively to find out what my true style was led me to see the beauty in clean lines, interesting silhouettes and black. So much black. Currently, I have decided to venture out into the world of color by blocking solids together and calling it a monochromatic day.
Interning for the first time here at CollegeFashionista finally permits me put my knowledge of fashion terminology, my 2011 subscription to Women’s Wear Daily and constant people watching to good use. It’s impossible to shut down the internal catalogue that goes off naming designers and seasons every time time a pair of well tailored pants walks by. Being a fashion nerd can be hard when your friends don’t understand it. Most days, however, I would never trade my passion for anything. Well, except maybe for a pair of Manolo Blahnik “Something Blue” pumps. (The first $965.00 I earn post college will go straight to transitioning this dream into reality.)
My philosophy on style is that it comes from within and ,as most students who are currently in higher education know, you have to learn to ball on a budget. That being said, I try to never spend too much on super trendy items that might go out quickly and always invest in classic pieces (shout out to my MK trench coat).
I am excited to stalk the campus for well dress ladies and gents, snapping pictures with my Nikon. I’ll definitely be cruising around the different departments and will hopefully find some fellow Public Relations students to make a good impression for all us Communications kids. Due to my insatiable wanderlust, I am an avid traveler and am planning to get into International Public Relations, and then just end up living somewhere in Western Europe…and have a brood of well-dressed children…that speak three languages.
Enough of my five-year plan, all you really need to know is that I am absolutely incandescently in love with all things fashion related and will be providing you with the best style advice I can possibly conjure up. I swear it upon my stack of French Vogue.
