STYLE GURU BIO: Annie Winters

Hey everyone! I’m Annie Winters, a senior food marketing major at Saint Joseph’s University. I’m originally from the state that everyone loves to hate, the armpit of America, also known as New Jersey. Although this is where my physical home is, I have found a home on my college campus in the amazing city of Philadelphia! This semester while dreading the looming date of my graduation, I have the honor of letting you in on my views of the ever changing world of fashion as it relates to myself, my friends and my fellow hawks.

At a young age I was drawn to the preppy look and lifestyle and always longed to emulate the child Ralph Lauren models. Whether they were at a ski cabin, hugging a dog, or sitting in the back of a pick-up truck, they were always dressed meticulously. Raised by a mother who was very handy with a sewing machine, I was taught that with a little time, and a steady foot on the pedal, any look is achievable. Although the clothes have changed, I’m no longer wearing patent leather penny loafers, or doubling up on Aeropostale polos, my classic style aesthetic has stayed intact.

Some say I dress like a 40-year-old soccer mom, but I like to believe that my everyday look is universal, polished and classic. As you can see from the pictures above, I have a very simple, but preppy taste that is comprised of a lot of easy-to-wear pieces. Take for instance, my J.Crew Field Jacket. This jacket has the ability to take a pair of leggings and boots to the next level, but it also can downplay any outfit as well. Because my clothes all have the same vibe, it is easy to get accessories that go with everything.  My pearls might be the most worn accessory I have in my jewelry box (I probably wear them three times a week), I never feel fully dressed without them!  I always like to add personalization to my classic look, and my anchor belt buckle does just that.

Throughout this journey, I hope to show you a little bit about me and my J.Crew, Ralph Lauren and Marshalls infused closet along with the looks of my fellow Hawks.  Here on Hawk Hill, students treat every day as a fashion show.  Even though that fashion show is laden with Sperry’s, Vineyard Vines and Lilly Pulitzer, it’s one of the things I love most about this place, and I hope you learn to love it too!
