STYLE GURU BIO: Annie Lam

Hi everyone! I’m Annie Lam and I’m currently a first year at the University of California, Riverside. I was born and raised in San Jose, California. A little about me: I’m majoring in business administration and I hope to either work in the marketing branch of a fashion or cosmetics company or to start my own business. Three of my favorite things are fashion, food and bunnies.

I’ve been extremely passionate about fashion for as long as I can remember, and getting my first retail job just solidified this love. I love telling the story of how I got hired for that job by describing myself as a “sassy Fashionista”. My favorite thing to do at work is put together outfits for customers based on their own sense of style or for a particular occasion. I love that fashion allows each and every person to express their personality and their individuality.

It’s a little hard to describe my sense of style, but generally, I love dressing cute but comfy. I tend to lean towards more feminine silhouettes and clothing pieces that are very detailed, like articles with lace/crochet, buttons and patterns. I’m definitely the type to stand in front of a mirror and try on a bunch of different tops to go with a pair of bottoms or vice versa.

I wanted this first post to really capture the epitome of my sense of style, so I wanted to pair this feminine crochet halter with a more vintage staple piece, a denim button skirt. I completed the outfit with a pair of black leather booties. I love incorporating small jewelry pieces into my outfits, so I added two types of gold jewelry: sparrow earrings and midi rings. I also wanted to add a pop of color to this neutral look by wearing a bright pink lipstick and rose nail polish. I truly believe that paying attention to the small details really helps to pull an outfit together.

Overall, I’m super excited to be a part of the Style Guru family and share my love of fashion with you all. I hope you enjoy reading my posts and getting a glimpse of the beautiful people and scenery that UCR has to offer. I’d like to end with this: you can pull off any clothing look as long as you wear it with confidence.
