STYLE GURU BIO: Annie Diaz

Hey Fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Annie Diaz and I’m so stoked to be a Style Guru this summer. I can’t wait to share some of my school’s best dressed.

I recently completed my freshman year at Marquette University in Milwaukee. I am majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Social Welfare and Justice. My dream is to work in PR for a fashion magazine.

Moving to the Midwest has been quite the change, but it has given me the opportunity to venture into a whole new world of fashion. It has been an excuse to revamp my wardrobe and wear clothes for seasons other than summer. I have the chance to layer sweaters and jackets and wear hats. To be honest, it has not helped my bootie obsession or wallet. I stay true to my roots as a SoCal native with a laid back and boho style, though. Cut-off jeans shorts and sandals are a staple in my closet.

Growing up, my mom and older sister always had sweet style and I look up to them for inspiration. My mom rocked overalls and Birkenstocks back before it was a thing. I’m a firm believer in investing in classic items like a great pair of jeans and boots, then spending less money on trendy items. A few random facts about me: I love turquoise jewelry, French fries with ranch, traveling, flannel and thrift shopping.

I admire the versatility of fashion. One day I can be girly and preppy, while the next I can dress edgy with my go-to leather jacket and black skinny jeans. Fashion is ever evolving and an expression of our personality. Living in a city with such history and diversity influences the way I dress and I can’t wait to share it with you.

See you next Friday!
