School’s out for summer, and instead of spending the next few months residing in my small hometown of Spring Grove, Illinois, I will be traveling to the city that never sleeps—New York City. After visiting NYC only once before accepting a summer internship position there, I am looking forward to completely immersing myself into the city life.
Aside from interning with a small boutique PR company, this summer I will be contributing to CollegeFashionista’s AROUND TOWN column showcasing select fashion shows, popular boutiques and local designers within the city.
As a returning Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I have grown to further understand myself and my personal style. Recently, someone told me, “Anna, as long as you like what you’re wearing, you don’t care what you’re doing. You’ll enjoy it no matter what.” I never thought about myself that way before, but it is true. Fashion and style have given me the confidence to do what I love and to trust that everything will work out. It is like the saying goes, “you gotta look good to feel good.”
Typically my style is very chic, but lately I have started to like some of the newer bohemian styles. The crochet pieces and kimonos are some of my favorites. I love the ease their flowy nature brings to any look.
Fashion and styles are constantly changing, and along with them I believe my personal style preferences are as well. Well, what better place is there to experience the evolving industry of fashion other than in New York City? So, this summer I will trade my cornfields and open roads for yellow taxi cabs and Duane Reade. I could not be more excited and optimistic for what lies ahead of me and I am lucky to be able or share my experiences with CollegeFashionista. There’s no turning back now. NYC, I’m comin’ for you!
