STYLE GURU BIO: Anna Burbano

Hello, fellow Fashionistas/os!

This is Anna Burbano, reporting to you all from the lively student community here at sunny Gainesville, Florida. For those of you unfamiliar with my work, this is my third semester here as a dedicated Style Guru, and my second as an editorial intern. (If one only needs proof of how I’ve improved since then, check out my increased social media presence @annaburbano!)

Though I greatly appreciate the work I’ve been able to do thus far for CollegeFashionista, it’s the possibility of improving my editorial writing that keeps me going—along with the chance of meeting more fashion-minded individuals like me! Last semester bore witness to my greatest Style Guru triumph: I was able to not only to contribute to the CFashionista community with my monthly fashion pieces, but to volunteer all day long for a Steve Madden x University of Florida event hosted by our website’s founder, Amy Levin. The experience was, in one word, incredible. (Oh, and meeting designer Steve Madden? So cool.)

Well, enough about me! On to what’s really important here: the fashion. In this shoot, I pair a hand-me-down yellow muted sweater with a trendy zip-up skirt found at your local H&M or Forever 21 (honestly, I can’t remember which one at this point). My soft Oxford shoes are, embarrassingly enough, from more than four seasons ago, but I love them so much that I can’t bear to throw them out of my closet! The handmade butterfly necklace and earrings were given to me, but the Michael Kors handbag was all mine to purchase—at a nice discount price, of course.

As you can see, I’m not particularly designer-obsessed, but I do pay great attention to how individual pieces react with another. To me, fashion is about personal expression through a limitless, fun medium, and if I had to describe my own style in five words or less, it would be “classic meets preppy.” If you’re a fan of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and other ’60s icons, you have a friend in me!

Thanks to all for reading! I hope to check up with you guys soon enough with another style update from the University of Florida. In the meanwhile, don’t forget to check out my older articles here and to keep it #RAD.
