STYLE GURU BIO: Andrea Poppe

Hey there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Andrea Poppe and I am very excited to be joining the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru this semester! I am currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, studying business management. After graduation, I plan on pursuing a career in the fashion merchandising field. As I’m sure it is clear, I have a love for fashion. Being “fashionable” is not necessarily something that is associated with those living in the Midwest. However, we do pride ourselves on our manners.

Perhaps that is best how my philosophy towards fashion can best be explained. You see, I believe that when you look good you feel good. I was also raised to believe that it is important to help others. That being said, if my musings here at CollegeFashionista or my day to day outfits can inspire someone to put together an outfit that makes him or her feel confident; like the best person he or she can be, then I will count that as a win. My personal style has done much altering over the years. However, now I would have to say I’m preppy with a sometimes edgy, sometimes feminine twist. Growing up in Wisconsin, I was not really aware of high fashion. Although now my horizons have been broadened, I like to stick to my roots. Some wardrobe staples of mine are denim, plaid, and anything that can be layered. This is clearly displayed in my outfit pictured above. Wearing denim on top as a button-down is a fresh alternative to what can be boring blue jeans. In addition, my thick blanket scarf and wool-lined tights are great cold-weather accessories that can be easily shed come warmer months. Finally, my lace trimmed socks add a unique, feminine touch to my ensemble. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity, and I am excited to see where this internship leads me. I’m also excited to see some great fashion along the way!
