STYLE GURU BIO: Andrea Avalos

Hello, everyone! My names Andrea and I’m excited to be here with you guys as a Style Guru! I was born and raised in California, but this past year I made a drastic change by moving to the city that never sleeps…New York! Currently I am in the process of receiving my associates in fashion business management from the Fashion Institute of Technology where I hope to continue my education and receive my bachelors in advertising and marketing communications.

Moving across the country was not easy. Having to leave my family and my home was difficult, but I did it and I could not be happier. Because honestly, as a fashion and beauty lover, there is no better place to be than New York!

Located right smack in the middle of the city not a day goes by that I do not see a fashion that influences me in one way or another. Whether it is a pair of shoes, a necklace, or a coat, there is always something new to look at and something new to inspire my next, and at times unnecessary, purchase.

When it comes to my personal style I guess you can say I was born to be in New York. While the foundation of my style is black I always like to add a nice staple item to my outfit in order to make it more me. Because while I play it safe with my clothing, I like to experiment in other ways such as through my accessories, the way I do my makeup, or the way I decide to style my hair.

Because of this I chose a very basic look for this post. As I mentioned before I like to keep the base of my style simple; black pants with a black turtleneck. However, in order to spruce things up a bit I like to add more detailed accessories. For example, to add a little depth as well as a tad of (still dark) color I wore a long black and green cape. The highlight of the outfit, if I do say so myself, are my favorite silver oxford shoes paired with a pair of simple black knee high socks. To add some more flare, I wore a simple silver choker with a multicolored gem, as well as a black fashion watch—which, let’s face it, is only there for the look, because if I really wanted to know the time I would simply look at my phone.

Well, there it is! A simple overview of who am I and what I like and look like most of the time. As I begin my first semester with CollegeFashionista it would be lying to say that I am not nervous, because let’s face it, having people read your work is incredibly intimidating. Nevertheless I am excited for what’s to come and where this opportunity will take me.

That’s all for now. Look, shop, and enjoy, and I will see you all next time!
