STYLE GURU BIO: Anastasia Yip

My name is Anastasia Yip and this is my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am a sophomore at University of California, Berkeley, where I’m majoring in History and Peace and Conflict Studies.

Fashion is a huge part of my life, and reading fashion blogs and magazines has always been my obsession. I love how being a CollegeFashionista Style Guru has become part of my identity. When I went home this winter break, all the friends I hadn’t seen for a year almost always started our conversations with “So how’s your fashion thing going? I love reading your style posts!”

During this confusing time where I’m still trying to figure out who I am and what I want to be, this Fashionista image is definitely something to hold onto, or at least a starting point. Looking back at all the posts I’ve written, I realize how writing about fashion really marks my aesthetics’ transformation. Reflecting on fashion on a weekly basis, I now recognize what works on me and what doesn’t: I learned to keep my ripped boyfriend jeans and let go of chunky bangles this past year. Being a Style Guru also pushes me to be experimental and try new trends, like dyeing my hair purple and embracing my inner grunge with tights and chokers.

I am so excited to be a Style Guru again this spring again. From interviewing Fashionista/os on campus to incorporating runway trends into my own outfits, I can’t wait to express my aesthetics, understand others’ style choices and connect with other Fashionistas/os. Be sure to check out my weekly posts every Wednesday and see what works for you!
