Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Ana Gonzalez and I am a junior at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey majoring in journalism and psychology. I am extremely excited to be joining the Style Guru team for the first time this spring semester. I will be sharing my favorite campus fashion trends and style advice every Monday for STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK.
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be involved with fashion because of the way I obsessed over my outfits as a kid. My mom would always remind me that I was just going to school and not a fashion show since I would take forever to get ready in the morning. To me, every detail of my ensemble was essential.
I consider fashion a form of art because it is a way to express myself. Art in any form, whether it is music, poetry or photography, is an important part of my life and that is why I am so happy to be interning for CollegeFashionista this semester. As a Style Guru, I will be able to express my love for fashion and writing every week while offering insight on the latest trends on campus. I consider my personal style eclectic since it ranges from day to day. Some days I’ll wear my black distressed jeans with black Dr. Martens and other days I’ll be more on the preppy side channeling my inner Jenna Lyons.
What I love about fashion is that it’s always evolving and not defined by one trend. I quickly learned this back in high school when I spent two summers in New York City studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology. New York City taught me to never be afraid to make a statement. With that being said, I am looking forward to finding the latest trends on campus and offering my advice on how to make them your own. Stay tuned my fellow fashion lovers!
