My name is Amy. This will be my second semester with CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru and my first as a marketing intern for the CollegeFashionista corporate office. My Style Guru duties over this past summer semester have surely kept me busy and entertained. I loved the overall experience and learned a lot from writing the WHAT TO WEAR column. It really forced me to think about how important an outfit is for any given occasion. As school begins next week, I will be returning to Hunter College as a junior majoring in English. I am beyond ecstatic to share the upcoming fall fashion in my STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column for my overpopulated school located in the Upper East Side of New York City.
To me, the upcoming season is the ultimate playground for fashion. With the ever-changing New York City climate, autumn gives us the perfect time to showcase our outfits. We can play with materials, prints and colors of all kinds. There are no limits. There is no humid heat forcing us to minimize our ensembles therefore our outfits are most intricate. There is no bone chilling frost threatening us to button up our coats, therefore, our outfits are never covered. This is the time where Fashionistos and Fashionistas are mixing pieces from all four seasons to create beautiful ensembles.
On a more personal note, this is surely a time of transition. For the next month, open-stitch sweaters will be my best friend. They are my absolute favorite go-to transition items once September knocks on our doors. These sweaters will keep you warm for the chillier temperatures without getting too suffocating thanks to the loose stitching. As for my bottoms, a pair of shorts will be the winner. I just desperately need a piece in my ensemble to remind me of summer even if it is just for two or three weeks. After that, my shorts will have to make friends with my tights as these two are always paired once October comes. This pairing has been seen trending in Banana Republic‘s ready-to-wear collection for fall 2013.
I cannot wait to further learn and grow with the CollegeFashionista team. Overall, I am stoked for the upcoming four months. There will be two more Style Gurus to represent Hunter College! One of which is a dear friend from high school. (Hi Moe!) Lastly, I’m sure hoping you guys are prepared to do some reading as we will begin to show off our Fashionistos and Fashionistas for fall 2013.
With classes starting, let’s all put our best foot forward and step into the new semester with head-turning ensembles. Good luck!
