Hello everyone! My name is Amina Khan and I am a rising sophomore at Emory University double majoring in English and Art History. I am so unbelievably excited for my second semester as a Style Guru here at CollegeFashionista. Although I have only been at Emory for a year now, so much has been changing so rapidly. In one year, I have made new friends, learned immeasurable amounts about myself and the world and, even more significantly, established for myself a sense of style that I hope will continue to grow.
Walking around campus every day, I have seen young men and women who exude personality and style through their everyday outfits. It is fun for me to guess where people are from based on their ensembles and I love being pleasantly surprised when I am wrong. The diversity of style that permeates Emory has influenced me to take risks in what I wear and step outside my comfort zone. The result has been an inordinate amount of online shopping, but all in all it seems fairly positive.
Reading magazines and watching runway shows may help us know what is “in vogue;” however, it is when we see Anna Dello Russo and Taylor Tomasi Hill on the street looking unbelievably chic that fashion becomes real. I am thrilled to be able to share Emory’s personal stash of street style icons with all of you and I hope that in seeing the mélange of well-dressed people that I happen to come upon at Emory, you will be similarly influenced to change your style. I am so lucky to have this opportunity and cannot wait to share the summer semester with all of you!
