STYLE GURU BIO: Ami Cornell

Is it just me, or did this summer just fly by? With fall quickly approaching, I like to think of a quote from one of my favorite romantic comedies, You’ve Got Mail: “Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies.” Seriously though, as much as we are all dreading the start of a new school year, a fresh start in the fall always seems to be welcome. As of late, I look forward to being on campus for one thing, and one thing alone: the opportunity to photograph many stylish Fashionistas and Fashionistos. This is my fifth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I could not be more anxious to get behind the lens and bring a ton of other fashionable students into the spotlight.

As much as I am looking forward to the fall, I’m not exactly looking forward to the weather that comes with it. Changing leaves may be beautiful at first, but in New York that usually means winter is fast approaching. I, for one, am not ready to ditch my Birkenstocks and tank tops, hence the reason I’m sporting an uncharacteristically warm weather look. This outfit subtly (if you can call wearing a hat with mouse ears “subtle”) highlights my obsession with Disney—from the Minnie Mouse baseball cap, to my Disney-fied Dooney & Bourke cross-body bag, you can clearly tell I’m headed to a Disney park. What better way to spend the last few days of summer than at the happiest place on Earth?

I kept the rest of my look simple so that it could be worn later in the evening outside of the Disney parks. My Disney obsession may be intense, but it’s not nearly severe enough for me to be caught wearing ears on my head in a normal setting. Pairing a simple long-line tank top with an embellished bralette is the perfect choice for the end of summer. I completed the look with a casual pair of denim shorts, a silver rope necklace and Birkenstocks—because, let’s be honest, I refuse to acknowledge that I own other shoes at this point. Grabbing an oversized cardigan might be a wise choice for after the sun goes down, because despite our best efforts to ignore it, fall is approaching fast.

As a senior fashion merchandising student at Buffalo State College, I feel that it is my duty to show you the style that my campus has to offer, and that’s exactly what I plan to do this semester. So strap in your seat belts, Fashionistas and Fashionistos, it’s going to be a wild ride.
