STYLE GURU BIO: Ami Cornell

Well hello again, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Ami, and this will be my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am currently in the midst of starting my junior year at Mercyhurst University, where I study Fashion Merchandising. Fashion is something that I’ve always had an interest in; I could name my top five favorite designers before I even entered middle school. My style tends to be reflective of decades past with a modern twist. I’m also obsessed with costuming featured in television shows and movies; I tend to let my favorite character’s style bleed into my own wardrobe.

Fall is always a cathartic experience when it comes to my closet. Items that I’ve found myself growing sick of over the summer leave to go to a loving home, and are soon replaced. The start of classes and changing colors of the trees leaves me with a desire to buy school supplies and tops in varying hues of orange, oxblood and gray. Autumn always inspires me to ditch my bohemian look, embrace my preppy roots and experiment with trends. Mixing patterns is always a “do” in my book, especially when pairing bold and muted colors. I paired a white and black grid pattern top with a burnt orange swing skirt and classic Converse All-Stars for a put together look that I can rock from the end of summer to the first week of classes. I also chose to represent CollegeFashionista by flaunting a RAD necklace.

Recently, I’ve been exploring the expansive world of fashion and lifestyle blogging, and looking to other stylish people for outfit inspiration. Fashion is all around us; you only need to take to the streets to be inspired.

I’m looking forward to sharing another semester with a community of extremely fashionable people at CollegeFashionista. Keep an eye out for another RAD post coming your way soon!
