Hello, Fashionistas/os! My name is Amanda Cheng and this will be my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I’m from the rainy city of Seattle, a place where the fashion scene is definitely up and coming. This is my senior year at the University of Washington and I am studying Biochemistry and an interdisciplinary social science.
I can understand the confusion, a science nerd into fashion?! Well, that’s me. Fashion is definitely my favorite creative outlet. Personally, I am a dabbler. I like to dabble and try on various styles and it definitely changes with my mood and with what inspires me. Fashion doesn’t have to be a uniform; my go-to-outfits are often modern classics with a pop of color, whether that is from one article of clothing or from an accessory. I like to try to use my style to stand out in an understated manner.
Models, designers and bloggers are only a few people I have interacted with and they are truly brilliant! I am not only inspired by the style of fashion professionals, but also by their drive. The combination of their business savvy and amazing style has made Garance Doré and Emmanuelle Alt heroes of mine.
I’m definitely working on honing my personal style and I hope I can use this opportunity to document individuals whose personal style is truly inspiring. I hope they will inspire you, as well.
