STYLE GURU BIO: Allison Quintanilla

Hello all my fashion obsessed friends! My name is Allison and I am a senior Fashion Merchandising major at the University of Delaware. I’m very sad to be in my last semester at this amazing university, but what a better way to spend it than as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru, am I right?!

Since this is my bio, I figure I should tell you a little bit about me. As a native New Jerseyan, I spend a lot of time visiting the Jersey Shore and Manhattan. I’m an aspiring New Yorker with a strong addiction to shopping and Starbucks. In my spare time, I create endless Spotify playlists, watch episodes of Law and Order: SVU that I have already seen around six times each and follow more food and fashion blogger Instagram accounts than I can count on two hands. If something has gold foil on it, I will probably end up buying it. I don’t think I have met a person more in love with inspirational quotes than myself and I have them plastered on the walls around my room.  I’m obsessed with perfumes and have an extensive collection (Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my favorite to wear). My planner is my pride and joy, as it is essentially the most organized extension of myself and contains my whole life written out in color-coded pens.

I have always been highly interested in fashion and media. During my college career I have had amazing opportunities like interning at Seventeen Magazine, Nickelodeon and in fashion public relations, as well as studying fashion abroad in Paris. I don’t really know what I want to do post-grad except work in fashion and move to Manhattan—very predictable, I know.  I love to write anything that is not a 10 page term paper, so being able to channel my inner style blogger and become a Style Guru is one of the most exciting things to happen to me!

Fashion is fun because what people are wearing is a way of telling their own personal story and everyone has a different take on it. I don’t really like to categorize myself into a certain category, but I would describe my style as a mix of feminine, preppy, urban and boho elements. I really enjoy incorporating fun patterns and statement jewelry into my outfits, and I jump at the chance to wear a dress whenever I get one. With that being said, this brings me to my outfit depicted above. There is nothing I love more than pairing a good printed flowy dress with tall riding boots. I paired my dress with a tassel necklace (a current obsession of mine) and two dainty bracelets, one being a lotus and the other a Hand of Fatima.

I hope you enjoyed reading and I’m so excited for all that is to come during this semester as a Style Guru and to showcase all of the highly fashionable students who attend UD!
