Hi everyone! My name is Allison Lau and I am proud to announce that this will be my third semester with the CollegeFashionista team. By now my readers all know that I’m basically a top notch, New York Times-quality author. And for all of my readers who actually read my articles and are giggling to themselves, maybe I’m not quite the poetic genius. However, I do crack jokes every now and then.
Despite my lack of “New York Times” quality, I still love writing about fashion. Hopefully someday I will gain enough experience within the fashion industry to become a buyer for T.J. Maxx. Even without the experience, I practically live at T.J. Maxx. I work there, and I’m always there shopping. Besides the work life and my paycheck, being non-existent because I’m always shopping, I’m a sophomore at Stonehill College livin’ the broke life and trying to get a good education.
Growing up in Vermont, you realize that fashion isn’t a prominent aspect of many people’s lives. That story doesn’t really help my case of how my love of fashion evolved, but let’s just put it this way: doctors help people improve their health, and I want to help people improve their sense of style–both of which are key aspects to life.
As of right now, I’m working on my own personal style. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to stick to one specific style. My style in the photos is a bit different than how I normally dress, but then again, I like to branch out and try new things. I’m wearing a white knit sweater and a white drop waist skirt that flares from underneath my sweater. I’m tired of wearing pencil skirts, so wearing the flared skirt keeps the look more interesting and playful. I added the tall riding boots to continue the soft tones of my ensemble. Finally, to add my signature touch, I added a black fur vest to top off the look. The only part about my style that stays constant is the color black. It would be a strange day if I wasn’t wearing black. Even the look I styled for my bio incorporates black. I tried for a softer look that was winter appropriate for Vermont, but somehow black always seems to find its way into my outfit.
