STYLE GURU BIO: Alissa Virgil

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Alissa Virgil and I am back for a second semester as a Style Guru intern for CollegeFashionista. I am currently attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. I am a fourth year senior studying Advertising and Public Relations.

I am a California girl at heart; it’s where I was born and spent half my life. The vibes of the West Coast definitely influence my style. I love all bottoms with high-waists and crop tops.

I am not too into prints besides stripes, so if I’m seen in something besides stripes it’s usually a very abstract pattern. I’m very attracted to solid-colored articles of clothing. I tend to dress simplistically, but still fashionably of course.

My favorite color is black and I incorporate it into my wardrobe on a daily basis. You can never not catch me in the dark hue. If I do not wear black as a main piece in my outfit then you can find it as an accessory or look down at my shoes. I’m always wearing the color.

Since I am originally from the West Coast, winter is still something I am adapting to after all these years. My wardrobe consists mostly of summer pieces but I try and make them work for winter. I layer sweaters and jackets over my crop tops and pair them with high-waisted jeans. My favorite pieces for winter right now are turtlenecks and a good wool coat. I do not own a wool coat at the moment, but I’m determined to add one to my wardrobe.

I work at Anthropologie and a lot of my staple pieces come from the store, like the striped turtleneck I’m wearing. In this look I also have on a pair of high-waisted American Apparel jeans. I swear by these jeans and recommend them to all my friends. They have the perfect amount of stretch for a tight skinny jean. I own two pairs in two different washes and wear them on a weekly basis.

The Free People jacket I’m wearing in this look is also one of my staple pieces. I wear this jacket on almost a daily basis. I got it as a Christmas present from my dad a couple years ago and have been in love with it ever since.

Most of the shoes in my wardrobe are black so of course I had to complete my look with a pair of suede booties from Forever 21. They were such a great price and I can wear them for hours.
