STYLE GURU BIO: Alicia Garza

Hey y’all! My name is Alicia Garza and I am starting my sophomore year in the greatest little college town in the world—Lawrence, Kansas. Even though I’m a double major in Elementary Education and Biology, I really love fashion and I can’t wait to show all of you what this great city has to offer!

Before we go any further, I think it’s important for all you Fashionistas/os to know a little bit about me. Being a military brat, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where I’m from. While I was born in Germany, I spent a great deal of time in many parts of the U.S., but mostly Texas, Kentucky and Kansas. Because of that, I can say that my style is very southern sweet. A lot of my style is influenced by Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift, and my wardrobe is a huge mix of all three.

I love country music, the color light pink and any and all romantic movies. I speak a little bit of Spanish, French and Polish. My favorite TV show is Dance Moms and I’m dancing ballet this year. I’m very girly and I always get dressed for class, no matter what! I think it’s super important to always put your best foot forward, but I also don’t mind being comfy.

The outfit I’m wearing is an outfit you could see me in any day of the week. It’s such a classic and easy look to wear. I love this Aeropostale white lace dress—it’s so classic; I can pair it with absolutely anything. For this occasion, I chose to belt it in the middle and pair it with an Ann Taylor cardigan, accessorizing with a large pink bow in the back of my hair and my cowboy boots. I love this outfit because even though it has a dressier feel, it’s still casual enough to wear to class without feeling overdone.

I look forward to spending my semester as a Style Guru and finding some amazing Fashionistas and Fashionistos to spread Lawrence’s amazing fashion world.
