My name is Alicia Chew and I’m a senior at VCU’s School of Mass Communications, majoring in Public Relations with a minor in General Business. I can’t believe I’m joining the College Fashionista family for my fifth and final semester; time really does fly when you’re having fun!
I’ve had some amazing opportunities during my college career to experience the hustle and bustle of the fashion industry first-hand. Before I transferred to VCU, I spent six months in New York City interning at Michael Kors and Black Frame, a fashion PR firm. The highlight of my NYC experience was assisting in preparations for three different shows during New York Fashion Week. Since then I’ve fallen in love with the fast-paced world of fashion PR, and aspire to move back North and land a job as a fashion publicist after I graduate in May.
In addition to blogging at CollegeFashionista, I am currently the Web and Social Media Assistant for RVA Fashion Week. Being able to combine my obsessions with social media and fashion and my New York Fashion Week experience is an ideal job for me! The city of Richmond has such a unique, impressive fashion scene and I’m delighted to work alongside some of the most talented Fashionista/os in the city.
This semester, I’m thrilled to contribute to VCU’s brand new What To Wear column! I’ve had the privilege of writing for the Let’s Hear it for the Boys, Style Advice of the Week and Accessories Report columns in the past, and now I’m excited to write about VCU’s most fashionable in a new light.
