Style Guru Bio

Bonjour Fashionistas and Fashionistos!!!

My name is Alicia Amelia Holt, but most friends know me by my second name, Amelia. I am a senior at the University of Texas-Pan American at Edinburg, Texas. This 2013 I will be majoring with a Marketing degree and a minor in French. I was born in Rio Bravo, a little town in Tamaulipas, Mexico. I lived half of my life there and the other half in the U.S., as a result I can say I speak both English and Spanish fluently. I love traveling and hope to go to Paris, France this summer and experience the culture, food and overall Parisian style and fashion.

My love for fashion sparked with my love for art. I am an artist and I enjoy painting every time I have the chance. When an idea pops into my mind, I tend to sketch it that instant so I do not forget it later. Fashion was a discovery for me. I knew style existed because we all have one, but the new innovations in fashion are what drive our style. Therefore, art and fashion go hand in hand; one cannot survive without the other. My guilty pleasure would be my addiction for upcoming trends designers creates every season. I simply cannot stop buying i-D and Vogue Paris; these magazines are works of art. From the designs, to the photography, to the editors, one must be in awe to ever own a copy. Everyone who contributes to making fashion happen is an artist. It take a lot of dedication from these artist to give us what we will want every month and season. I admire the artistry everyone in this industry has and I hope to be part of it soon.

My style varies through the year; it depends on the weather most of the time. Sometimes I am influenced by movies I watched or street style blogs I bump into when I surf the web. I would say my style is industrial and gray in the winter, and during the summer I can be found wearing shorts and pastel color blouses. My style is inspired primarily by model street style. I find models to be very interesting characters in the industry simply because they are the face of every collection. They are whom we see everyday on magazine ads and editorials. Some of my favorite model street styles come from Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The fashion industry would be the place I would like to be part of. This CollegeFashionista internship is a wonderful start for me; it will help me determine where in this industry I truly belong in. I am very thankful to be part of the CollegeFashionista team, and through this experience may I share with everyone the various cool styles from my university.
